Glance is a tool for comparing and analyzing complex data sets stored in HDF4, HDF5, NetCDF, or AERI formats. It is written in python and can be run from the command-line on Unix-like systems including Linux and Mac OSX.

Glance provides powerful analysis tools including a wide variety of statistics, HTML comparison reports, charts, and data plots. Glance can navigate some types of data on the Earth's surface using corresponding longitude and latitude information or provide analysis of unnavigated data sets.

Glance handles automatic validation testing against truth data sets through configurable pass/fail criteria and html summary reports that can be generated for compared files.
